GSO Capital Partners Forms ClearGen Portfolio Company

The Blackstone Group Blackstone, through funds managed by GSO Capital Partners, has formed a new portfolio company called ClearGen. ClearGen aims to finance and own distributed and sustainable energy infrastructure assets, or distributed infrastructure, focused on commercial, industrial, and institutional customers. GSO Capital will initially commit US$ 250 million to fund ClearGen and expects to expand the commitment as capital is deployed. ClearGen sees opportunity in the onsite renewables space and plans to invest in a wide range of assets, including microgrids, distributed generation, renewable energy combined with battery storage, energy efficiency investments, green transportation, and combined heat and power plants.
