Walter Family-Linked AM Group Buys Stake in LFIS Capital

Launched in 2013, Paris-based LFIS Capital is a quantitative asset manager headquartered in Paris, France. Westmount, Quebec-based Walter Global Asset Management, a globally-diversified private equity platform specializing in the asset management industry, acquired a significant minority stake in LFIS, its third European investment. Walter Global Asset Management was founded in 2018 and is led by Sylvain Brosseau, former Global President and COO of Fiera Capital from 2003 to 2017.

Money manager La Française Group will continue to provide certain support functions to LFIS through 2022. On November 30, 2020, LFG exited its minority stake in LFIS.

LFIS claims to manage US$ 11 billion in assets under management as of November 30, 2020.

Walter Global Asset Management owns stakes in Kilgour Williams Capital, Lionguard Capital Management Inc., Quadra Capital Partners, Validus Risk Management, and Auspice Capital Advisors. The family-run Walter Group was established in 1952 by Walter J. Somers. The first company in the Group was Walter Surface Technologies, which is an important provider to the global metal surfaces industry.
