1. New York state renews order to halt collection of medical and student debt owed to state through January 2021.

2. Microsoft Corporation admits that SolarWinds hackers gained access to internal source code systems. Microsoft said the account did not have the ability to monitor any Microsoft code.

3. Short seller research Friendly Bear believes the newly IPO’d Lemonade “is an egregious stock promotion disguised as a social impact company – the company is making a complete farce of the ESG investment movement.” Only being 5 years-old, Lemonade has had cumulative losses of almost US$ 300 million, “so if the company actually delivered on its philanthropic promises, we imagine the losses would be so staggering that the stock would become uninvestible.” Lemonade ended 2020 with over 1 million customers.

4. California Governor Newsome said the U.K. coronavirus strain variant was found in California.

5. New York state reports 13,422 new coronavirus cases (new daily high).

6. Mexican authorities seized 1,301 kilograms of fentanyl in 2020, up from 222 kilograms in 2019, according to Mexican Defense Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval via a regular government news conference.
