President Biden Warns Nothing We Can Do to Change Trajectory Regarding COVID

U.S. President Joe Biden addressed national media over COVID-19. On Friday, Biden warned that as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, “there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.” Biden also said that he expects the U.S. Labor Department to allow people to turn down employment if they would risk contracting COVID, and still receive unemployment.
Data compiled by Johns Hopkins University claims to have a total of 400,000 deaths related to or from COVID directly.
White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci told the media that new data shows that the COVID vaccines appear to be less effective against some of the new coronavirus strains. Pfizer’s and Moderna’s vaccines both us messenger RNA (mRNA) technology. The more contagious strains of the coronavirus are spreading globally. The U.S. government is following very carefully the one in South Africa. The coronavirus has mutated to attach itself more easily to human cells.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention quietly changed its guidance on COVID-19 vaccine shots. The change is saying it’s now O.K. to mix Pfizer’s and Moderna’s shots in “exceptional situations”. The CDC also changed guidance that it is fine to wait up to six weeks to get the second shot of either company’s two-dose immunization. The CDC said “every effort” should be made to ensure a patient receives the same vaccine.
A U.S. official noted that around 100 and 200 of the National Guard deployed to D.C. for the inauguration tested positive for COVID-19.
UK
Early evidence suggests the variant of coronavirus that emerged in the U.K. may be more deadly, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said. PM Johnson told a Downing Street briefing: “In addition to spreading more quickly, it also now appears that there is some evidence that the new variant – the variant that was first identified in London and the south east – may be associated with a higher degree of mortality.”
Hank Aaron and Norway
On January 5, 2021, legendary Atlanta Brave and Major League Baseball record holder Hank Aaron “The Hammer” expressed pride after being injected with the COVID-19 vaccination. He told the Associated Press, “[Getting vaccinated] makes me feel wonderful.” He added, “I don’t have any qualms about it at all, you know. I feel quite proud of myself for doing something like this. … It’s just a small thing that can help zillions of people in this country.” Hank Aaron took two doses of the Moderna vaccine.
On Friday, Hank Aaron (Henry Louis Aaron) died at the age of 86. No cause of death was listed. He was born in Mobile, Alabama, on February 5, 1934.
Norway
Doctors in Norway are looking into frail elderly patients in line to receive the Pfizer BioNTec vaccine against COVID-19. This is following the deaths of 23 patients shortly after receiving the vaccine. Norwegian Medicines Agency (NOMA) has investigated 13 of the deaths so far and concluded that common adverse reactions of mRNA vaccines, such as fever, nausea, and diarrhea, may have contributed to fatal outcomes in some of the frail patients.
