Nasdaq Threatens to Halt Stock Over Social Media Chatters

Are the meme lords on reddit more effective than Occupy Wallstreet?

Nasdaq President Adena Friedman revealed in CNBC that “we monitor social media chatter and will halt stock if we match chatter with unusual activity in stocks.”

“As we look at these new technologies that are available … it’s important for regulators to understand that manipulation is manipulation whether it’s happening through a new technology medium or it’s happening through traditional mail,” says Adena Friedman on CNBC SquawkBox.

On another note, TDAmeritrade put in place several restrictions in $GME, $AMC, and other securities.

Social media forum Reddit says it will cooperate with U.S. law enforcement if necessary in the context of the Wallstreetbets forum.
