Payment Processor Stripe Gets Big Valuation at $95 Billion

Stripe Inc.’s valuation is approaching US$ 95 billion as the company raised US$ 600 million in its latest round, according to a statement by online payments company Stripe. Patrick and John Collison, brothers from Ireland, founded Stripe in 2010. Stripe’s platform competes with Square Inc. and Paypal Holdings Inc.

The Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) is a primary investor in Stripe. ISIF invested US$ 50 million in the round. Other participating investors include Allianz, Fidelity Management & Research Co., Baillie Gifford, AXA SA, and Sequoia Capital.

Stripe isn’t focusing on an initial public offering right now.

In February, Stripe appointed Mark Carney, former Governor of both the Bank of England and Bank of Canada, to its board.
