Mubadala and Snam Work on Hydrogen Feasibility

Italian gas group Snam S.p.A. and Mubadala Investment Company are keen on developing hydrogen business in the United Arab Emirates and in other locations. Mubadala recently set up the Abu Dhabi Hydrogen Alliance, with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and ADQ, to facilitate a hydrogen industry for the UAE.
Snam is Europe’s biggest gas transport group. In April 2019, Snam was Europe’s first company to test the injection of a blend of hydrogen (5% of the mix) and natural gas in its network. The trial took place in Contursi Terme, in the province of Salerno, involved supplying H2NG (hydrogen-natural gas mixture) for a month to two industrial companies in the area, a pasta factory and a mineral waters bottling company.
