DOJ Returns $452 Million in 1MDB Recovered Funds to Malaysia

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) remitted US$ 452 million to a Malaysian special assets recovery account. Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance is recovering money tied to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal. In total, the special recovery account has received a total of 16.05 billion ringgit. The recovery account will be mainly used to repay debts of 1MDB and a former unit, SRC. 1MDB still has 39.8 billion ringgit in outstanding debt, according to the ministry.

The DOJ was active in recovering funds tied to the 1MDB scandal.
