1. At a press conference at Downing Street, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirms that all legal COVID-19 restrictions in England will end on July 19, 2021. All legal coronavirus restrictions including mask-wearing, social distancing, and nightclub closures will end at Step 4 of the government’s plan to ease England’s lockdown.

2. TC Energy, owner of the Keystone XL pipeline project, seeks US$ 15 billion in damages from the Biden administration. TC Energy filed a notice of intent to initiate a claim against the U.S. government over the suspension of the project. The notice says the Biden administration violated the North American Free Trade Agreement with its decision to kill the US$ 9 billion project. TC Energy had to drop the project after U.S. President Joe Biden revoked a crucial permit.

Brent crude oil is now at US$ 77 per barrel for the first time since 2018.

3. Sharjah’s government, the third-biggest sheikhdom in the UAE, selected banks to raise over US$ 750 million from an Islamic bond offering. Sharjah possesses the lowest investment-grade rating at S&P and Moody’s Investors Service.

4. Colombia is looking to ramp up coal mining to boost the economy. Colombia is a signatory to the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

5. Airlines operating in Europe will eventually have to pay for the pollution produced by their planes.

6. HydrogenOne Capital Growth will receive a minimum of £25 million as a cornerstone investment from INEOS Energy. HydrogenOne Capital Growth lans to list on the London Stock Exchange’s main market and will predominately invest in private clean-hydrogen assets.
