Changing of the Guard, TCW’s Bond Chief Tad Rivelle to Exit

Tad Rivelle is Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income, overseeing over US$ 228 billion in fixed income assets, including US$ 107 billion of fixed income mutual fund assets under the TCW Funds and MetWest Funds brands. Rivelle is stepping down as bond investing chief at TCW Group Inc. He will retire from TCW at the end of 2021. Steve Kane and Bryan Whalen will succeed Rivelle as investment chiefs for the firm’s fixed-income division

Prior to joining TCW, Tad Rivelle served as Chief Investment Officer for MetWest, an independent institutional investment manager that he cofounded with Laird Landmann and Steven Kane in 1996.

The Metropolitan West Total Return Bond fund was launched in 1997. Tad Rivelle, Laird Landmann, and Steve Kane have been running the Metropolitan West Total Return Bond fund since its 1997 inception. The three of them managed portfolios together at Hotchkis & Wiley in the early 1990s before starting MetWest.
