What Does GIC Singapore Stand For?

GIC in the context of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund stands for Government of Singapore Investment Corporation.
However, the sovereign wealth fund adopted the name to be GIC Private Limited and that was revealed in July 2013. GIC had changed its legal name from “Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Private Limited” to “GIC Private Limited”. The name change formalized the widely-used brand name of “GIC” in the global investment community and markets that GIC operates in.
The SWF used to be called the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC). Old abbreviations of GIC were sometimes seen as GSIC.
