Fincantieri Gets a Sustainability-Linked Loan for Cruise Ship Construction

Fincantieri S.p.A. is an Italian shipbuilding company based in Trieste, Italy. Disclosed on December 23, 2021, Intesa Sanpaolo (IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division), Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), and Fincantieri completed a “sustainability linked” construction loan for a maximum amount of 300 million euros. This is the first operation of this type for the naval group and the proceeds will be used to cover the financial needs related to the construction of a cruise ship for delivery in 2023. The loan is defined as “sustainability linked” since it is linked to the achievement of three specific performance indicators.
