Kuwait Appoints Abdulwahab Al-Rushaid as Finance Minister in New Cabinet

Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah (age 84) announced the formation of a new Cabinet. Abdulwahab Al-Rushaid was named as Kuwait’s new finance minister, replacing Khalifa Hamda. Abdulwahab Al-Rushaid (age 37), who has support from Kuwait merchant families, is a known critic of the government’s fiscal policies. The Chairman of the Kuwait Investment Authority (role) is saved for the country’s finance minister.
This move could have some short-term implications on how KIA is run.
