U.S. Pushes a New High for COVID-19 Cases

Various global health bodies are confirming that the COVID-19 omicron wave is less deadly than the earlier variants. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) calculation represents a negative milestone in the wave of coronavirus infections in the U.S. On December 28, 2021, the U.S. had its highest single-day total of new COVID-19 cases with 441,278 infections surpassing the previous daily record by close to 150,000.

New York state tallied 40,780 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to New York Governor Hochul’s office, with 27,774 derived from New York City.

On December 27, 2021, U.S. President Joe Biden, who pushed an aggressive COVID vaccine mandate using federal power, took a big step back in response to a question. President Biden on that day claimed there is no “federal solution” to the COVID-19 pandemic. He then boasted about his “federal plan” to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden is also receiving flack from various media sites on not getting enough COVID tests ready for the omicron wave. Long lines across the U.S. are a common scene in cities as people wait to get COVID tests.

The U.S. is not the only country experiencing higher COVID-19 cases.

Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has updated the procedure to enter the emirate from within the UAE by requiring green pass for vaccinated individuals and a negative PCR test result for those who are not vaccinated.
