Japan GPIF to Analyze Impact of Foreign Stock Lending Cessation

Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) plans to analyze and review its decision to stop lending shares. GPIF decided to stop lending its stocks in 2019. GPIF at the time believed the practice was inconsistent with its stewardship code. GPIF started lending foreign equities in 2014 to increase income.
