Macquarie Leads Financial Close for Norway’s Sotra Connection PPP Project

Sotra Connection public-private-partnership (PPP) Project is a massive project in Norway. Sotra Link AS was awarded the preferred bidder for the concession by the Norwegian Public Roads Authority (NPRA) in 2021. The 9.4 kilometer four-lane road link includes a 4.6 kilometer long twin-tube tunnel and a four-lane bridge of about 900 meters. The road link aims to improve travel between Bergen and Øygarden municipality.

Sotra Link AS is made up of Macquarie Capital (70% ownership), South Korean civil engineering company SK ecoplant (20% ownership), and Italian industrial group Webuild (10% ownership). Sotra Link announced financial close on the €2 billion Sotra Connection PPP Project. Sotra Link AS will operate and maintain the link for 25 years after it opens to traffic in 2027.

Hungary’s Intertoll via their Norwegian subsidiary Intertoll Norge AS will operate the concession. Intertoll Europe is an independent toll and motorway infrastructure developer and operator, with its head office in Budapest, Hungary.

The design and construction of the project will be executed by the Spanish group FCC Construcción (35%), Webuild (35%), and SK ecoplant (30%).
