Australian farmland manager Gunn Agri Partners Pty Ltd has acquired 6,000 hectares of land for its Transforming Farming Platform. The land is located in the Liverpool Plains in northern New South Wales that was once slated for a coal mine. The property was sold for a total price of A$ 120 million to Gunn Agri and other investors. Chinese energy giant Shenhua decided to not move forward with the Watermark Coal Mine plan in 2021.

The property will be operated by Faulkner Farming. The rest of the land was sold to private landholders, around 10 local farming families.

In 2021, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation has invested A$ 50 million towards a sustainable farming platform, as well as Kempen SDG Farmland Fund.
