Luxembourg Ministry of Finance Awards Climate Finance Mandate to Schroders

On June 16, 2022, the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance appointed Schroders plc, BlueOrchard Finance Ltd (part of the Schroders Group) to launch an impact strategy with the goal of contributing to the transition to carbon-neutral and resilient economies and achieving sustainable growth in emerging markets. The initiative will specifically focus on the environment: climate mitigation, climate adaptation, and the protection of water and biodiversity. The partnership is focused on channeling investments from both the public and the private sectors through a Luxembourg-based financing vehicle that will help to close the climate finance funding gap.
Schroders and its impact investment specialist BlueOrchard were selected in an international tender process. Schroders will provide the portfolio and risk management services as the AIFM, while BlueOrchard has been appointed as the investment manager for this climate impact strategy. The strategy aims to invest in solutions that address the environmental goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), among others.
