Fondi italiani per le infrastrutture SGR (F2i) sold a 78.4% stake in Irideos S.p.A. to Asterion Industrial Partners, an independent investment management firm focused on European infrastructure in the middle market. The purchase agreement governing the transaction was signed on July 15, 2022. The transaction is subject to clearance by the Italian antitrust and FDI authorities and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022. Irideos is an Italian digital infrastructure operator offering connectivity, data center, and cloud solutions through a network of 27,000 km fiber optic routes along motorways, the Adriatic coast, and metro areas, as well as through 15 data centers. Irideos was formerly known as 2i Fiber. 19.6% of Irideos is owned by Marguerite, a European infrastructural fund. Irideos Datacenter Italia Srl is a data center unit of the company.

F2i SGR was established on January 23, 2007 as an initiative of, among the others, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the two major Italian banks, Intesa Sanpaolo and Unicredit, banking foundations and insurance funds.
