Posted on 08/27/2022

In January 2020, U.K.-based emerging markes investor Actis LLP signed an MoU with the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) to look at strategic cooperation across multiple sectors in Egypt.

In August 2022, Actis signed a MoU with the Egyptian government for green hydrogen development. The MoU will give Actis an entry point into what could be one of the largest hydrogen markets in the region. Hydrogen is widely used globally in commercial industry, such as in the production of ammonia for fertilizer, methanol for plastics and in oil refining. Actis sees Egypt possessing a comparative advantage in its pursuit of green hydrogen, due to its renewable resources and proximity to European and Asian markets.
