BOOM: FTX Group Files for Bankruptcy

FTX Trading Ltd., which does business as FTX.com, and West Realm Shires Services Inc., which does business as FTX US, and around 130 additional affiliated companies (all known as the FTX Group), commenced voluntary proceedings under Chapter 11 bankruptcy. There’s approximately over 100,000 creditors. Sam Bankman-Fried (age 30) stepped down as CEO of FTX, while John J. Ray III was named CEO. The excluded subsidiaries LedgerX LLC, FTX Digital Markets Ltd., FTX Australia PTY Ltd., and FTX Express Pay Ltd. FTX was once reportedly valued at US $32 billion. Sam Bankman-Fried was on magazine covers such as Forbes and Fortune and was a major Democrat party donor in recent elections.
