Posted on 07/13/2023

Kuwait Finance Minister Manaf Al-Hajeri has resigned from his post due to the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) being moved to the office of the Minister of Oil and Minister of Investments. SWFI data indicates that KIA has assets of US$ 750 billion. Audit Bureau head Faisal Al-Shaya and Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Saadoun also resigned, after warnings that office politics would have a significant impact on the government.

Kuwait is currently trying to work out a plan to manage a dispute with Iran over natural resources in the Durra offshore gas field, which Iran believes it has some rights to develop.
