EPF

KWSP Summary

Malaysia’s Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is a social security financial institution, also known locally as Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP). The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is set up under the EPF Ordinance 1951, and placed under the National Director of Posts. The Laws of Malaysia, Employees Provident Fund Act 1991 (Act 452) were updated. The act aims to provide retirement benefits for members through management of their savings in an efficient and reliable manner. The EPF also provides a convenient framework for employers to meet their statutory and moral obligations to their employees. Members for the EPF are both private and non-pensionable public sector employees.

As of September 2014, the EPF has 14.11 million members.
