ADIA Hires Pascal Herberling, Increases Direct Investment Staff

The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) has hired Pascal Heberling as a senior portfolio manager of principal investments. Heberling came over from U.K.-based private equity firm Cinven Limited, where he was a partner. He left Cinven after the closing of Cinven’s Fund V, desiring to take a break after a 12-year stint with the private equity firm. Before 2001, Heberling was a vice president in mergers & acquisitions in London for Merrill Lynch.

Increasingly, large sovereign wealth funds like the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority are building out their direct investment capabilities to lower their cost of capital and compete for deals on a global basis.
