Qatari Diar Chooses DC for US Office

Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, a subsidiary of the Qatar Investment Authority, is opening up a regional office in Washington D.C. The office will enable Qatari Diar to pursue opportunities in the Americas.

The office will be located in City Center D.C. Stephen Pettit will head the office in the Americas.

Panama Developments

Qatari Diar is partnering in a joint venture on developing Panama Pacifico, a massive mixed-use real estate development. The developer is London & Regional Panama, International. The project is on the former site of Howard Air Force Base, on the western bank of the Panama Canal.

Invesco Buys OppenheimerFunds for $5.7 Billion

Invesco Ltd. signed a deal to acquire OppenheimerFunds, Inc. from Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). In turn, MassMutual and the OppenheimerFunds employee shareholders will receive a combination of common and preferred equity consideration, and MassMutual will become a significant shareholder in Invesco, with an approximate 15.5% stake. This strategic transaction will bring Invesco’s total assets under management (AUM) to more than US$ 1.2 trillion. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2019, pending necessary regulatory and other third-party approvals.
