Abu Dhabi Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Buys Stake in Jerusalem Soccer Club

Posted on 12/07/2020

Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan has committed to invest more than 300 million shekels (US$ 92.18 million) for a 50% stake in Jerusalem’s Beitar soccer club. This is months after the United Arab Emirates and Israel agreed to normalize relations under the Abraham peace accords. The club’s owner Moshe Hogeg took over in 2018. Bin Khalifa’s son will serve on the board, and will represent him in all matters regarding the soccer club, it said. Moshe Hogeg will remain a controlling shareholder.

The United Arab Emirates is making a large effort to normalize relations in the Middle East, after nearly decades of sporadic wars in the region.
