Dr Hubert Minnis is the Prime Minister of The Bahamas. The government seeks to “accelerate” the implementation of a sovereign wealth fund. In 2016, the Bahamas government executed a legal review of the Sovereign Wealth Fund Act of 2016. The act in 2016 stipulates the government would create “The Sovereign Wealth Fund Account” to be open at the country’s central bank.

The Bahamas has some natural resource assets, which includes oil, and valuable land.

Furthermore, Hubert Minnis disclosed the sovereign wealth fund could also manage a future sub-fund that will invest in infrastructure on the island. The sub-fund has a name – the National Infrastructure Fund.
