1. Tencent Holdings Limited is on pace for its biggest ever monthly gain. Share prices of the company surpassed HK$ 700 to a record high this month. Tencent has increase market share and seen growth in the gaming sector and other digital businesses.

2. The Indian government is moving to permanently ban social media app TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps, according to Mint.

3. European Central Bank (ECB) President Lagarde revealed that the ECB will be in the market for an extended period of time.

4. Pfizer Inc demands India to order COVID-19 vaccine before pursuing approval.

5. Moderna’s COVID shot for the South Africa variant strain of COVID could come by late summer 2021.

6. China President Xi Jinping addresses Davos, warns leaders “The new cold war could turn hot.”

7. According to ABC News/Ipsos poll found 1 in 5 Americans have confidence President Biden can unite the country. The poll surveyed a random sample of 504 adults across the country between Jan. 22-23, 2021.

On another note, the recall campaign to oust California Governor Gavin Newsom is nearing its required threshold to qualify for a state-wide ballot. Organizers said they have collected 1.2 million of the 1.5 million signatures needed. The last CA Governor recalled was Gray Davis, which setup an election in which Arnold Schwarzenegger won.
