International Finance Corporation Lost $1.6 Billion in Net Income in 2020

International Finance Corporation (IFC) recorded a loss of US$ 1.672 billion in net income. IFC’s equity investment portfolio returned negative US$ 1,067 million in FY20 (comprising dividends and realized gains on sales of US$ 536 million and unrealized losses of US$ 1,603 million). The overall net loss in FY20 was primarily due to lower valuations on equity investments, principally in FY20 Q3, and higher provisions for losses.
