1. Government forces captured Dairo Antonio Usuga (age 50), Colombia’s most wanted drug trafficker. Dairo Antonio Usuga is known as Otoniel. He was captured by a joint operation by the army, air force, and police. “This is the biggest blow against drug trafficking in our country this century,” Colombia President Iván Duque said in a televised statement. “This blow is only comparable to the fall of Pablo Escobar in the 1990s.”
2. FULLY VACCINATED STATUS. The Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is Rochelle Walensky. Rochelle Walensky said Friday that the U.S. government “may need to update” its definition for what it means to have full vaccination against COVID. This means the people may have to take a COVID booster to keep their status. For now, the CDC’s definition is the following: “Fully vaccinated persons are those who are ≥14 days post-completion of the primary series of an FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine.”
3. 1.7 MILLION MIGRANTS ON MEXICO BORDER. Data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection says that more than 1.7 million migrants were detained along its border with Mexico in the past 12 months – the highest number ever recorded.
4. U.S. Department of Justice charges former CEO, CFO, and VP of email security company called GigaTrust. GigaTrust filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in the District of Delaware on or about November 27, 2019. GigaTrust raised money from venture capital firms. The DOJ alleges “The defendants devised a scheme to defraud investors and lenders by (a) fabricating and disseminating false and misleading bank account statements that overstated GigaTrust’s cash deposits; (b) fabricating and disseminating false and misleading audit materials that purported to have been issued by GigaTrust’s auditors and overstated GigaTrust’s performance; (c) forging and disseminating a false and misleading letter purporting to be from GigaTrust’s New York-based counsel; and (d) impersonating or causing others to impersonate a purported customer and auditor of GigaTrust on telephone calls with a prospective lender.”
