1. Former U.S. President Barack Obama has tested positive for the coronavirus. “I just tested positive for COVID,” Obama wrote on Twitter. “I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative.”

2. The U.S. government has reason to believe Russia asked China for military equipment and other support following the start of its war in Ukraine, three U.S. officials confirmed Sunday.

3. HE’s BACK. Superbowl champ Tom Brady (age 44) reversed his decision from February 2022 to retire, saying Sunday that he couldn’t bear to be a spectator.

“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” tweeted Brady. “That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa.”

4. William Hurt (age 71), the Oscar-winning actor best known for his performances in “Body Heat,” “Too Big to Fail,” “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “Children of a Lesser God,” and “Broadcast News,” died Sunday. Hurt died of natural causes surrounded by family. William Hurt was born March 20, 1950, in Washington, D.C. Hurt had previously been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in 2018.

5. The nickel market at the London Metal Exchange (LME) will remain closed on Monday.
