The Kazakh president has removed Galymzhan Pirmatov from his role by decree, as a result he will no longer be National Bank of Kazakhstan governor in the country. Taking over duties at the central bank will be Timur Suleimenov, who is a member of the president’s circle. The Senate voted to approve Suleimenov this week. The bank reduced rates by 0.25% on Monday, however rates are still high at 16.5%. The inflation problem in the country is thought to be improving.
